Groundhog Paper Bag Craft for Groundhog Day
On February 2nd will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow and endure six more weeks of winter or predict that spring is on our doorstep? In any case you can dress him according to his predictions. Dress him in a winter hat and gloves if he sees his shadow, or sunglasses and ball cap if he doesn't.
What you will need: Brown paper bags, glue, stapler, paper scraps to fill the bag, brown paper, printer paper, scissors, and colored pencils or crayons.
How to Make Paper Bag Groundhog:
1. Stuff a brown paper lunch bag with crinkled up scrap paper. Fold down the top one inch and fold in the sides one inch and then staple the bag closed.
2. Print out the Groundhog Pattern onto brown paper and cut them out. (This pattern is available to members only.) If you are not a member, draw the groundhog face, arms, and feet onto brown paper and cut them out.
3. Glue the head to the top of the bag and the arms to the sides. Glue the feet to the bottom of the bag.
4. On Groundhog day watch the television news to see if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow. If he does, dress him in winter clothes. If he doesn't, dress him in spring clothes.
5. If you picked the winter outfit, write a paper about what you like about winter. If you picked the spring outfit, write a paper about what you like about spring.
