Bulletin Boards

"Thanks Mom" - Mother's Day Bulletin Board

Sent in by Carol Weddle

Carol used the pattern from the Bird Picture in the Spring Crafts section of Danielle's Place to make this Mama bird with her chicks bulletin board display. You can glue straw or dried grass to the birds nest and feathers to the birds to add texture. Glue a gummy worm or realistic rubber worm used for fishing to the mama bird's beak. To finish add a pretty spring boarder.

"Look Who Popped In" - Bulletin Board Display

Save a popcorn bucket from the movie theater and make "popcorn" for it by scrunching up white trash bags and gluing them into the bucket. For the other "popcorn" on the door, draw popcorn shapes on a piece of paper and glue on pictures of your kids in the center of the shapes. Laminate them and cut them out. Print out the words using WordArt or other editing program and then drew the popcorn shapes around them. Laminate them and cut them out. The background is red and white striped material found at Walmart in the $2 a yard in the clearance bin. This idea and picture was sent in by Rebecca Mosher

"We Are Learning How to Follow God's Word" - Bulletin Board Display

Use yellow paper for the background and cut a path from green paper. Type out the words using WordArt or other editing program. Print them out and cut them out. Using bright paint have your children make footprints on black construction paper. Cut them out and put them the path following the Bible. The border has Bibles on it. The Bible is a piece of black poster board with limbs, hands, feet, and facial features cut from construction paper. This idea and picture was sent in by Rebecca Mosher

"Assorted Sweeties"

This is an idea I read about (it was originally for a bulletin board) and then decided to adapt for my door. I covered the door with gold gift wrap and added a red bandana border. The children's names are printed out and glued onto heart shaped doilies. I made the candy box from 2 pieces of poster board; I just cut 2 hearts as large as I could--one from each piece of poster board. Then I used the scraps to make the border around the candy box and cut slits in it so it would overlap (I used hot glue). The bow on the box is made from wired ribbon that says "With Love" all over it and it is wired through the box. I printed "Assorted Sweeties" on my computer using Word Art and a list of ingredients which reads: "Ingredients: God, Love, Friendship, Sugar, Spice, and 20% Mischief". I used a tack to hang the bottom of the box and then hot glued the top to the bottom.
For the "candies" I opened some chocolate covered cherries and some Hershey's nuggets and wrapped them around bottle caps and foam, then hot glued them on to the heart cupcake liners. The empty spaces are for me to add the pictures of my students and one of the cupcake wrappers has a mirror on it for any visitor we might have. This idea and picture was sent in by Rebecca Mosher

"Jesus Warms My Heart"

Use a dark blue background - like a wintery night. Use red lettering with a yellow outline for the title: "Jesus Warms our Hearts". Decorate the board with snowflakes. Finish it off with some snowy trees at the bottom and a snowflake border and a big red heart in the center. This will last through Valentine's Day. Sent in by Linda Rife

"Bee Theme Bulletin Board"

The "bee" theme can be used with many different sayings or titles for your bulletin board such as "We Bee-long to Jesus", "Bee a part of our class",  "Be happy, Jesus loves you," etc. You can have each child write his name on a bee and add it to the bulletin board.  You can also decorate the bottom of the board to match your theme.  Click here for a bee pattern.

"Following in His Steps" - Bulletin Board Display

Children think of ways they can follow in Jesus' steps and write things on paper feet cutouts and then tape them to the board. This bulletin board goes along with the lesson "Following in His Steps". There is also a lesson for preschool children.

This display can be a work in progress.  Before you start the lesson ask the children to think about ways they can follow in Jesus' footsteps. For instance, if you have the lesson on "The Women at the Well", you can ask the children what example Jesus left us in this story.  You can write words on the feet like: compassionate, understanding, forgiving, accepting, caring, etc. As children think up new words, let the children add them to the display or point out words that are already on the board and tell how they relate to the story.

"Jesus is the Way!" - Bulletin Board Display

Soar to New Heights with Jesus! - Bulletin Board Display

Use this bulletin board to advertise a kite day outreach.

This bulletin is very simple to make.  Use a bright blue background for the sky. Buy kite posters and little people boarders.  Print out each word of the saying on a separate sheet of paper and cut around the words in clouds shapes.  Cut extra clouds.  Staple on the clouds and saying, then the kites, and then the boarder. Staple a thin string from the kite to the hands of the children in the boarder.

The bulletin board picture with the flowers at the bottom was sent in by Susan.

Easter and Palm Sunday Display
The Road That Jesus Walked

Use a white background paper and paint a curvy road with rocks on it. Then paint a scene of Jesus carrying a cross. This is easily done by placing a coloring page on an overhead projector and then tracing it onto the white bulletin board paper. Paint the scene with acrylic paints. Some shading makes it very pretty. Write, "The Road that Jesus Walked" at the top of the board. Cut green palm leaves from construction paper and glue to the road. If you put this up early, you can leave it on the wall for about eight weeks. Susan
