Bible Games Using Pool Noodles

1. Bible Lesson Review Pool Noodle Golf Game

Turn your Bible lesson review into an exciting indoor golf challenge! Children use pool noodles as golf clubs to guide ping-pong balls or plastic golf balls through a course of chenille-stem “cups.”

After answering a Bible lesson review question correctly, each child gets a turn to hit the ball toward the next cup. Players continue answering questions and moving through the course until someone reaches the final cup. The first player to complete the course wins!

This active review game is easy to set up, fun for a wide range of ages, and a great way to keep children engaged while reinforcing what they learned during the Bible lesson.

What You Will Need

Set Up

Bend the jumbo chenille stems into large U shapes and place them around the room to create a miniature golf course. Position each U shape with the opening facing the direction from which the children will hit the ball.

Cut the pool noodles shorter for younger children so they are easier to handle. Older children can use longer pool noodles for an extra challenge.

Choose a starting point, arrange the children in teams or let them play individually, and begin the Bible lesson review!

2. Knock Down the Walls of Jericho

Stack lightweight boxes or plastic cups to make a wall. Children march around the wall, answer a Bible question, and then use a pool noodle to knock down part of the wall.

This works especially well with Joshua 6.

3. Shepherd the Sheep

Scatter white balloons, cotton balls, or crumpled paper “sheep” around the room. Children use pool noodles as shepherd’s staffs to guide the sheep into a taped-off sheep pen.

Before moving a sheep, each child answers a review question.

4. Part the Red Sea Relay

Place blue paper, fabric, or streamers on the floor to represent the Red Sea. Children use pool noodles to push lightweight blue balloons or paper “water” aside and create a pathway.

Players answer questions as they move through the course.

5. Bible Verse Hockey

Use a pool noodle as a hockey stick and a Wiffle ball or crumpled paper as the puck. Make small goals with chenille stems, cups, or blocks.

After answering a question correctly, children get one shot at the goal.

6. Fruit of the Spirit Roundup

Write the nine Fruits of the Spirit on lightweight balls, paper plates, or balloons. Children use pool noodles to move the correct fruit into a basket or marked area.

You can call out a description such as, “Being patient when you have to wait,” and children choose the matching fruit.

7. Gather the Manna

Scatter white pom-poms, cotton balls, or paper circles around the room. Children use pool noodles to sweep the “manna” into baskets.

You can place words from the memory verse on some pieces and have children put the verse in order.

8. Build the Bible Verse

Write one word of the memory verse on each plastic cup. Children use a pool noodle to move or knock the cups into the correct order.

For younger children, use pictures along with the words.

9. Lost Sheep Rescue

Hide numbered sheep cards around the room. Children use a pool noodle as a shepherd’s staff while searching for them.

When they find a sheep, they answer the corresponding numbered review question.

10. Sword of the Spirit Duel

Give each child a short pool noodle. Call out a Bible book, person, event, or verse clue. The first child to gently tap the correct answer card with the pool noodle earns a point.

Use floor cards rather than having children tap one another.

11. Clean Heart Sweep

Scatter paper hearts around the room. Some hearts have positive choices and some have unkind or sinful choices written on them.

Children use pool noodles to sweep the positive choices into the “Clean Heart” area and the wrong choices into a “Throw Away” box.

12. Follow Jesus Obstacle Course

Create a simple path with cones, chairs, and chenille-stem gates. Children guide a ball through the course using a pool noodle.

At each obstacle, they answer a question about following Jesus.
