Blackeye the Sailor Dog II

(Servin' God)

Leader: Hi, Blackeye! How's the cruise?

Blackeye: Oh, it's great! So interesting! This sailin' is really in my blood!

Leader: I knew it! Just like your song says (in sing-song voice) "You're Blackeye the Sailor Dog!"

Blackeye: Hey, speaking of my song, I made up another line for it. The line I added goes like this: "I love to be servin', cause it's quite rewardin!"

Leader: (Puzzled) Did you say "surfin"?

Blackeye: (emphatically) No! Servin'!

Leader: Servin'! Oh, you mean "serving". What are you serving?

Blackeye: (emphatically) No! It's not WHAT I'm serving-it's whom I'm serving?

Leader: Oh. So who are you serving? And why are you serving them on a cruise?

Blackeye: (emphatically) No, no! Not THEM! Just Him! You know, Jesus. I'm serving Jesus on this cruise!

Leader: Oh, now I understand! But how are you serving Jesus on this cruise?

Blackeye: (excitedly) I love Jesus so much! I want other people to love Him, too. So I'm telling everyone I meet that Jesus loves them very much.

Leader: And how do people respond to you?

Blackeye: (thoughtfully) Well, some just smile and say "Yes, that's nice." Others walk by me like I haven't said anything at all. I really like it when people ask why I say that. Then I can tell them more.

Leader: So what else do you tell them?

Blackeye: I tell them that Jesus loved them so much He died on the cross for them, and I tell them that Jesus wants to be their Best Friend always. And I tell them that He is coming back again!

Leader: I'm glad you're telling them all of that! Keep it up, Blackeye.

Blackeye: I do have a question, though.
Leader: Oh, what's that, Blackeye!

Blackeye: What do I tell them when they ask how I know these things?

Leader: Tell them you know these things because they are written in God's Word, in the Bible.

Blackeye: Right, mate. I do know Jesus loves me. I have this warm, squishy feeling right here.

Leader: Blackeye, those feelings are good, but you may not always "feel" that warm feeling. Feelings come and go. But we can know Jesus loves us because God said so in His Word.

Blackeye: I get it. You mean, Jesus always loves me, whether I have this emotional feeling or not.

Leader: Blackeye, I think you've got it. So keep on sharing Jesus' love.

Blackeye: Right. I will. (shyly) Would you all sing my new song with me?

Leader: (looking at audience) Sure we would, Blackeye.

Blackeye: (leading) "I'm Blackeye the Sailor Dog, I'm Blackeye the Sailor Dog, I love to be servin', cause it's quite rewardin', I'm Blackeye the Sailor Dog!"

Leader: See you next week, Blackeye!

Blackeye: Bye boys and girls!
