How to Make the Spoon Cheerleader:

IY Cheerleader Craft Made Plastic Spoons and Paper www.daniellesplace.com

1. To make the head and torso use a regular-sized plastic spoon. Bend the tip of the spoon back into the concave side of the spoon using a lighter. Move the flame over the area which you would like to bend until the spoon starts to melt. Quickly and gently bend it into the shape you would like. The spoon cools quickly so you have only a few seconds to work. Hold the spoon in the shape until it cools.

2. Cut the end off of the handle of the regular-sized spoon about 2". This will make the torso shorter.

3. Decide what position you would like the legs and arms. Use the lighter to melt the spoons and twist them into shape. You will have to hold the spoon into shape a few seconds until it starts to cool. Glue the arms and legs to the torso with a low temp. glue gun.

4. Spray paint the body and let dry.

5. Use acrylic paint to add features such as shoes and a face.

6. To make the outfits print out the patterns, cut them, fold them and glue them on the figure. Colored patterns and black and white patterns to which you can add your own colors are available.

To fold the skirt fold all the lines next to a colored section down and all the other lines up.

7. To make the hair wind pipe cleaners around a thin object then cut it into shorter lengths and glue it to the top of the head.

8. Make tiny pompom by winding yarn around your three middle fingers about eight times. Pull it off and tie the yarn together in the middle to form to loops. Cut the yarn in the loops. Glue to the figure's hands.

What you will need:

One Regular-sized Cheap Plastic Spoon

Four Mini Plastic Spoons - You can find these at party stores. They are used for cocktails and desserts.

Flesh-colored Spray Paint Made for Plastic

Ribbon, Lace and/or Tulle

Pipe cleaners or other material for the hair

Low Temp. Glue Gun

Acrylic Paint

Lighter with a long handle

How to Make the Spoon Ballerina:

1. To make the head and torso use a regular-sized plastic spoon. Bend the tip of the spoon back into the concave side of the spoon using a lighter. Move the flame over the area which you would like to bend until the spoon starts to melt. Quickly and gently bend it into the shape you would like. The spoon cools quickly so you have to work fast. *Do not hold the lighter too close to the fork because it could catch fire. You only want to heat it up. (This part of the craft is for adults only. Children should not use lighters.)

6. To make the outfit scrunch up a five inch piece of lace and glue it to the waist. (Use and use a needle and thread to scrunch it up or just glue it to the spoon section by section. Wind ribbon around the torso and arms and glue to secure it. (I painted the outfit pink to match the shoes.)

7. To make the hair wind pipe cleaners around a thin object then cut it into shorter lengths and glue it to the top of the head.
