Creation Hopscotch Bible Game with Rhyme for Children

Days of Creation Activity for Kids – Hopscotch Game with Rhyme

Make learning the days of creation fun and active with this hopscotch Bible game!

(You can also use it as an art activity and have your students help you create the hopscotch before playing.)

Perfect for Sunday school, homeschool, or children’s church, this activity helps kids remember each day of creation using movement and a simple rhyme. Easy to set up and great for mixed ages, this hands-on game keeps kids engaged while reinforcing Bible lessons.

Play just like traditional hopscotch, but as children hop on each square, have them say the rhyme below.

Create a large hopscotch game on a sidewalk or play area. Make the squares just the right size so children can comfortably hop on one foot from square to square. Lying down a piece of string first will help you keep your lines straight.

Sidewalk ChalkYou can purchase a large box of sidewalk chalk from Amazon.com.

exclamation markAfter drawing the squares and end cap, invite the children to help add pictures and words to each section. As they work, talk about each day of creation and what God made.

Optional Craft Activity - You can also have your student paint small rocks before playing the game that they will use to throw onto the hopscotch. Encourage them to draw a picture on the rock of something they are thankful that God created.

How to Play:

1. This game is played just like Hopscotch, except that, as children hop on each square, have them say the rhyme below. Children take turns throwing their rocks onto the Hopscotch squares. If their rock lands on the appropriate square, they hop on one foot on the single squares and hop onto the double squares with both feet. They should hop over any squares that have a rock on them.

2. If you have younger children, you can change the rules and let them hop on all the squares, but tell them not to touch any lines with their feet. If they touch a line, they lose their turn.

3. If a child makes it up and down the hopscotch successfully without touching any lines, he gets to try to throw his rock on the next square. If the rock doesn't land on the next square, the next player takes a turn.
